A small gesture means a lot! This is an ideal token gift from the oldest candy shop in France to express your gratitude.
King Louis XIIIth's Court was infatuated with this exquisite candy, created by Marechal Duc de Praslin's "officier de bouche". Since then, the recipe of Prasline has been kept secret by Mazet!
The full flavour of the grilled, caramelised almonds is released when you bite into the crunchy brown sugar.
Traditional Prasline can hold the title of the oldest candy in France. Its manufacturing process, unchanged since its creation in 1636, has been perpetuated for centuries in Montargis. The confectioner Léon Mazet is the one who set the standard when he wrote down the recipe which had been passed down orally until 1920. The simplicity of the toasted and caramelized almonds made their success.
For those who are lucky enough to enter the laboratory of Mazet factory when the Praslines are being prepared, it is an enchantment for all the senses. The sense of smell is flattered by warm, subtle aromas, the sight is satisfied with the shiny and crunchy brown of the caramel, and the taste which delights your taste buds... it is inimitable!
